Project story

More than 13 years after the original towers were destroyed, the Port Authority was finally able to relocate its corporate headquarters into the new 4 World Trade Center building. As the first occupancy in the new World Trade Center complex, we contributed our experience and commitment to help the Port Authority and the community rebuild. A significant move on many levels, the 14 week phased program reunited 1,500 staff members as they occupied their new headquarters. The project was about more than bricks and mortar, it was about making history.

Sensitive delivery

We delivered a tailored project, cost, and move management service based on the Port Authority’s needs to successfully build out 400,000 sq ft over 11 adjoining floors. This covered the management and coordination of all aspects of work: assisting with the delivery of planning, design, construction and commissioning of the tenant improvement project, as well as seeing them through the relocation.

A bite of the Big Apple

Working in one of the most logistically constrained locations in the world was a huge challenge. With a strict 10 month construction timeline, every activity had to be executed with the utmost precision. The constrained site meant that every aspect of logistics and deliveries had to be minutely planned. The highest safety standards were also maintained throughout.

We are extremely proud to have used our expertise to deliver this project to our client and to the community as seamlessly as possible for all involved.

“To play a part in helping the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey bring their employees back to this site is as sensitive as it is a strong message about the future of this community.”
