Project story
Blending a historic landmark building with a new 18-storey tower in the centre of London’s most exciting cultural quarter was always going to be a challenge. But by working collaboratively as developer, project manager and contractor, we brought together expertise from across Mace to restore and radically transform Assam Place.
Our team turned the Grade II listed former brewery come whisky warehouse into a high-specification mixed-use development, combining luxury student accommodation and premium commercial space. The result is a new type of accommodation for students at the heart of the city where the worlds of finance, technology, media, art, and fashion meet to form a dynamic and creative hub.
Assam Place marked our first step into the world of development and therefore played a vital role in shaping the future of our wider business.

“This project has been hugely rewarding for us, working on the redevelopment of a historic building in the heart of the city. It has certainly been challenging for us to update the building and ensure it delivers the facilities required by the 21st century student market.”
